Power of Attorney
Updated on 14 May 2025

Someone else managing your affairs

  • Power of Attorney (POA) allows someone to manage another person’s affairs
  • POA might be needed for ill health, mental ill health, disabilities, or leaving the country
  • POA should be given to someone you trust who will act in your best interests
  • There are various types of POA so consider which is most appropriate for you
  • A certified copy of the POA certificate will allow us to deal directly with the attorney
  • There is more information on the Citizens advice website and you should speak to a solicitor
